This monumental work, Ishikawa Ken's first "serialized" work and his first collaboration with Nagai Go, predating "Getter Robo," is being published in book form for the first time in 47 years, reproducing the original magazine publication format, including color pages and title pages!

Nagai Go debuted in 1967 at the age of 22 with "Meakashi Polykichi." Since his debut, he continued to publish works energetically, and instead of the hierarchical, apprentice-like relationship of a typical manga studio, he founded Dynamic Pro, aiming to be a collective of creators. Ishikawa Ken was the most energetic and active collaborator alongside Nagai Go.

Ishikawa Ken, born in June 1948, passed away suddenly in 2006 at the age of 58. He and Nagai Go, born in September 1945, belonged to the baby boomer generation, with only a three-year age difference.

The first work published with both of their names listed was "Gakuen Bangaichi." This school-themed gag manga began serialization in 1969. It was the year of the University of Tokyo Yasuda Auditorium incident, a time when young people of the same generation as the two main characters were loudly proclaiming revolution and becoming consumed by conflict. Alongside "Harenchi Gakuen" (1969-) and "Gakuen Taikutsu Otoko" (1970-), which also fiercely mocked traditional authority within the same atmosphere, this work can be considered one of Go Nagai's three major school-themed manga.

At the start of the serialization, Go Nagai was 23 years old, and Ken Ishikawa (initially using his real name, Kenichi Ishikawa, but later changing to Ken Ishikawa), for whom this was his first serialized work, was a young duo of only 21 years old. However, in the middle of the series, with issue No. 19 (September 22, 1970), Ken Ishikawa declared his intention to hitchhike around Japan and left Dynamic Productions. Therefore, subsequent issues of the series were changed to a format of "Tetsuji Aikawa / Supervision: Go Nagai."

Several years later, Ken Ishikawa officially returned to Dynamic Productions. His collaboration with Go Nagai on *Getter Robo*, again credited as a joint work, brought his individuality and uniqueness to the attention of manga fans. He remained with Dynamic Productions until his death in 2006, continuing to produce powerful works. This *Gakuen Bangaichi* was the work that marked the beginning of their relationship.

Although the latter half of the work, written by Tetsuji Aikawa, was omitted and the series was compiled into comics twice in the past (Shonen Gahosha's "HIT COMICS" edition, 1971-72 / Wakagi Shobo's "COMIC MATE" edition, 1974), it remained difficult to obtain for a long time afterward.

This time, Fukkan.com is offering a collector's edition that reproduces the title pages and color pages from each installment of the original serialization, and also includes "bonus pages" such as illustrations that were only published in the original magazine and not included in the collected volumes.
