This forested area is blessed with high-quality silica and charcoal, the raw materials for glass, and glass workshops have been active there since the Middle Ages. Since its founding in 1872, Zwiesel has continued to produce glassware that is always in tune with the times throughout its 130-year history. Currently, the company offers two brands: handmade "ZWIESEL 1872" and machine-made "SCHOTT ZWIESEL."
