Improving reading comprehension requires vocabulary and grammar knowledge, but it's also important to increase background knowledge in a variety of fields. This book covers 13 areas that are often tested on in tests such as the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students, and university entrance exams, and contains 52 reading comprehension materials.
The book is further divided into two steps. In STEP 1, you read a passage of approximately 400-600 characters and work on multiple-choice questions.
In STEP 2, you read a passage of approximately 1000-1200 characters and work on multiple-choice questions as well as written questions that require you to summarize the text and express your own opinions and thoughts.
A separate volume includes a vocabulary list with English, Chinese, and Korean translations, making it suitable for use in the classroom as well as self-study.
