Description: This 9SiCr alloy tool steel tap and die set offers excellent hardness, durability, and wear resistance for durability. These uncoated thread taps and round dies are suitable for a wide range of thread cutting applications.
Taper Tap: Initiates and guides threads into the workpiece. Typically used for tapping through holes. Bottom Tap: Generate threads near the bottom of the blind hole. Straight flute tap provides quick downward chip removal, clear threads with no burrs. The round die has a conical locking hole that provides a strong lock and will not loosen.
The metric tap and die set can be used to rethread damaged or jammed threads, or to create new threads. Suitable for through holes or shallow holes in mild steel, aluminum, iron, copper and hard plastics. The surface is lubricated with lubricating oil to prevent rust.
Tap and die sets are primarily for hand work (thread taps are used with a tap wrench, round dies are used with a die stock). Use proper cutting lubricant or oil during the tapping process to achieve better quality threads and durable tools.
Tip: Ensure proper alignment, use proper tapping technique, and apply constant pressure while rotating the tap to create a clean, precise thread. Regularly reverse during tapping to crush chips from the flute, remove foreign objects, prevent jams, and ensure smooth work.
