By attaching the lead to the front of the chest, it becomes difficult for the dog to go ahead of the owner. When the lead is pulled, the martingale loop tightens, weakening the dog's ability to move forward. The lead does not tighten around the throat even when pulled, so there is no need to worry about shortness of breath or vomiting. Training can be done without putting a burden on the dog.
