Biotin 10,000 mcg, Puritan's Pride is a vitamin sometimes called vitamin H or vitamin B7. Biotin is widely known for its importance in cellular development and its assistance in the metabolism of fatty acids, carbohydrates, glucose and amino acids. Biotin is also a very important nutrient for healthy hair, skin and nails.
Functional action:
Participates in the regulation of all types of metabolism - protein, carbohydrate and fat.
Biotin's best-known function is maintaining the health of the skin, hair, and nails, which is why it is called the "beauty vitamin." As you know, the skin needs sulfur, which is necessary for the synthesis of collagen - a protein responsible for the structure and elasticity of the skin, and biotin is its source. Moreover, it delivers sulfur directly to the skin and its appendages (hair and nails). Thus, biotin supports the health of the skin and its appendages, and also slows down the aging process in the body.
Biotin stabilizes blood sugar, providing an insulin-like effect.
Participates in the synthesis of glucokinase, an enzyme that converts "excess" blood glucose into glycogen, creating its depot in the liver and muscles.
Biotin has a beneficial effect on the functions of the nervous and immune systems.
Participates in energy production.
Participates in the activation and transfer of carbon dioxide through the bloodstream.
Biotin is necessary for the normal functioning of the digestive organs, positively affects the work of the stomach and intestines, supporting healthy microflora.
Biotin helps absorb protein.
Biotin normalizes the metabolism of fatty acids, providing a lipotropic effect. It promotes the breakdown of fatty acids and fat burning, mobilizing lipids from fat depots.
Because Biotin regulates fat metabolism and is found in skin and hair cells, it naturally regulates the fat content of the skin.
Biotin enhances the action of other B vitamins – vitamin B-12, folic acid and pantothenic acid.
Hair loss, skin irritation, fungus or eczema are symptoms of biotin deficiency. Also, the most common seborrheic dermatitis in newborns is one of the indicators caused by biotin deficiency.
