Introduction
Next year, No. 1 soul singer MISIA will celebrate her 15th anniversary since her debut. Her new song has been chosen as the theme song for the much-anticipated film "Ooku: Eien [Uemonsa and Tsunayoshi]," which hits theaters nationwide on Saturday, December 22nd! To express the film's theme of "the eternal love between Uemonsa and Tsunayoshi," MISIA commissioned Tomoyasu Hotei, known for his numerous classics, to write a song for the first time. This song, set to a backing track with a grandiose worldview originally written by Hotei, features MISIA's emotionally charged vocals, creating a masterpiece that will shake the history of Japanese music.
This film follows two years after the smash hit "Ooku," which opened in October 2010 and drew an audience of 2 million. The film traces the reign of the 8th Shogun, Yoshimune, and depicts the era of the 5th Shogun, Tsunayoshi. Set in the Ooku, a glorious era of ambition, love, and hate, even more so than the previous film, this film depicts a heartbreaking yet beautiful love story. Masato Sakai plays Uemonnosuke, a man who lives for power over love, secretly pursuing his ambitions and ascending to the Ooku as its general supervisor. Miho Kanno plays Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, the female shogun who shoulders the fate of the Tokugawa clan.
